LESSONS FROM MAMA GENA

"Glorifying the Goddess in you is all about paying true attention to what you desire each and every moment of the day, just as you would if you were the caretaker of a beautiful shrine. Treat yourself as the beautiful shrine that you are- whenever you get the chance, toss rose petals at your feet."

AdventureLand

GO SEE THIS FILM!!

I have to admit when I walked out of the theater I was not moved by this film. did I enjoy it? yes. I realize that sometimes It's the place you are in your life, I think that maybe If i saw this movie a year ago I would have been geeking when I walked out the theater. However at this point in my life I'm not. Or maybe its the fact that I've seen so many movies when youngin's fall in love that I'm just kinda over it.

BUT other then that...

I thought it was a really good solid film.

the actors were very believable, i felt like i knew them or I'd seen them some time in my lifetime, and I am pretty sure I'm going to start following films that include Kirsten Stewart (Twilight).
I also really appreciate simple films with not too much drama, everyday interactions and believable endings.

Favorite part
Scene where the James Brennan
runs to the boss when he is being chased

UNfavorable part

BAD editing in the first scene where James Brennen is doing the horse racing game

Paris 36/ Faubourg 36

GO SEE THIS MOVIE!
In 1936 Paris three out-of-work friends (GĂ©rard Jugnot, Clovis Cornillac, Kad Merad) create a musical and must struggle with their lack of experience and a local thug in order to run the show and raise enough money to buy the theater.
It was a synopsis like this one that made me not want to see this movie, but once i did i thoroughly enjoyed it and I believe many will feel this way as well if they give this film a chance. I got the synopsis from fandango and although that is the base of the film there is a lot more going on in the story then that. This film tells a story of Love, it tells a story about family and it also tells a story about fighting for equality.

Favorite Part
the musical show they put together in the last scene

UNfavorable part

none

LESSONS FROM MAMA GENA

this new book I'm reading is really perfect for my life right now and it might be great for yours as well.. so i will just put a few quotes down

"Look around for the perfection in your life as it exists, in this moment"

"we are taught to work hard, study hard, and deprive ourselves. But who teaches us about pleasure?"

"all you have to do is look at a child and you will see the direct access we all have to pleasure. A child moves from one pleasurable thing to another, gets interrupted with a few tears, a distraction, then back to pleasure."

"I do not care if you clean toilets for a living or your husband beats you or you've never had an orgasm or you are blind or deaf or in a wheelchair. I don't care if you make millions and you hate yourself or you drink too much or you weigh three hundred pounds. You are my sister and you are a goddess. As such, you have the power to create the existence you want, no matter how bleak a life you are currently living."

Valentino The Last Emperor

GO SEE THIS MOVIE!
Today I saw Valentino The Last Emperor and I LOVED it!
I have to admit i did not want to see it because i just felt like I didn't care about him at all.
but this is what i love about Documentaries, learning about a different world you never knew.
I feel that if you have any appreciation for clothes at all you should go see this movie (RIO CORTEZ). I am totally a fan and i want to go into his store right this second and look at his brilliant designs. A little birdie told me that he is the hardest designers to get a dress from if you are a celebrity and you want to wear him to an award show...

Favorite part
The argument between him and his partner about the set design

UNfavorable part
only nitpicky things that are not really necessary to criticize at this moment

San Diego/Tijuana

SO me and Rachelle went to San Diego and Tijuana last Thursday the 9th. The day started out so beautiful! driving by the beach... it was sunny... we romanticized the fact that we were going to Mexico! and then... we crossed the border... which was no hassle by the way, to get into Tijuana you just walk thru two gates and your in.

Can I just tell you it is such a trip to literally walk thru a gate from a first world country into a third world. Every time i have heard about people going over to Tijuana they talk about the 2 dollar drinks, the duty free shit, the mexican food, the cheap jewelry. I dont remember anyone ever mentioning the fact that you have to think about the ice in your drink because the waters so bad or the fact that those cheap earrings your thinking of buying is what someone else is depending on to get them some dinner. Or the fact that majority of Tijuana that i saw which was not a lot (but still) everyone was waiting for americans to cross over and buy. They depend on us.. and Yet people are so confused about why they wanna come live here.

we share the same land.. califorinia is mexico... I fucking hate that theres a border.

p.s. check out Rachelle's poems about Tijuana and San Diego

TWO LOVERS

SEE THIS MOVIE FOR THE GREAT ACTING, COOL SHOTS AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
BUT IT COULD BE A DOWNER DEPENDING ON YOU.
(this could spoil the movie for you if you haven't seen it)

this title should really be called:

TWO UNFORTUNATE SOULS!!!! (with the song from the little mermaid in the back round)
So I first want to say what I liked about the movie. Joaquin Phoenix... really WONDERFUL actor
Gwyneth Paltrow also great actress...she really transforms in every role I've seen her in. I thought It was an overall good story..Original script. I can't think of many movies like this one.
I feel the two characters represented so many people in this world today and it just made me think "oh! that's why so many people end up in divorce" The ending did not satisfy me however I know that some will accept it because people want happy endings.
This time in my life i don't want to think about a future unhappy love life soooo after i write this blog I want to forget that movie ever existed.
DON'T SETTLE ARIELLE

favorite part

The first scene (where he is about to jump in the lake, really interesting shot!)

unfavorable part

The last scene...(where he shows her the ring..UGH!)

MY first BLOG!

SO I decided to start a blog... I am 99% sure I'm not doing this just because all my friends are doing it. Maybe I should say they inspire me to try things that scare me like: writing my opinions and my thoughts in full lengths where everyone can judge them.

what will I write...

I think i will write about movies I see, things i see going on in the world and things that i hope inspire people to be better stronger faster and harder...LOL

okay i think I am ready to post my first blog !
